Alicia won first place in the 2008 Peoples Choice Belly Dance Awards for Best New Performer, Best Zills, best comedy, and personality. She won runner up in the Promising Beginner Category at the Boston Belly Dance Competition in 2005. Alicia's eclectic, unique and energetic style and apparent love for the dance is a joy to watch and makes people of all ages feel alive.

She performs Arabic, Turkish, American Cabaret, and modern shows and uses props ranging from veil, zills, cane, sword, fans, wings of isis, candles, sai and the occasional flower. Alicia has been a member of many of Sabrina's troupes and shows including the Odalisque Troupe (troupe winner 2008 Peoples Choice Awards), and has been a member of Johara's Snakedance Theater Productions 2006 and 2007 and the Jewel of the Valley shows in 2002 and 2003.

Belly Dance Teacher
Alicia teaches belly dancing to children, teenagers and of course adults! She creates a fun comfortable atmosphere that incorporates choreography, props, stretches and fundamental skills and drama while being flexible and catering to the students needs. Classes are geared towards being in touch the body/mind/spirit connection, having fun, and encouraging self acceptance. Each student is encouraged to follow the class but to go at the pace that feels comfortable.

Dance Background
Alicia began her training in dance and movement at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst in 1998. 4 semesters of yoga, then 2 semesters of ballroom classes, and expanded her repertoire to tango, west coast swing, salsa and latin dances, and her favorite, the partner styled disco hustle. Alicia continued her dance curriculum at Paradise Dance, (under the close supervision of Deborah Cohen,) where she was a member of a performing hustle team for a year. On a whim one afternoon in 2002, Alicia took a belly dance class with Rose Champage and became inspired and was initiated into the world of belly dance. Alicia has also studied with Sabrina, Sardis, Najmat, Johara and has taken many workshops. Alicia is a modest dancer, and a constant student and striving to learn more. Alicia feels that her background in the healing arts and knowledge of cultures and teaching children greatly influences her style.
