The word calligraphy literally means “beautiful writing.” Before the invention of the printing press some 500 years ago, it was the way books were made, each copy being written out by a scribe’s hand in the period book-hands. I draw 38 letter styles with English characters, ranging from a simple italic (chancery cursive) to an elaborate old English (black letter). I also draw Hebrew for ketubot (Jewish marriage contracts) and other documentation, including Arabic calligraphy.

My more noted clients include Neiman Marcus, Tiffany & Co., Fender Guitar, the Phoenix Suns, the Phoenix Art Museum and many of the more noted resorts here in Scottsdale. My newest logo design rests on the Montelucia Resort in Paradise Valley.
