JAMES MALIA—“Drawing the fun into your party!” A great caricature makes your party or event memorable for a lifetime while keeping your guests of all ages entertained.
James Malia is an award-winning professional caricaturist and illustrator with a gregarious, cheerful and warm personality. On top of that, he practices good dental hygiene and usually smells good. His goal is to have an image drawn that people will smile at and want to hang on their wall. James’ caricatures have been spotted on NBC’s Emmy-winning Will & Grace, HBO’s Emmy-winning Curb Your Enthusiasm , Paramount’s ‘VANILLA SKY’ with Tom Cruise directed by Cameron Crowe,(the scene where Tom and Penelope draw one another), Taco Bell beverage cups, Billboard Music Awards, People magazine, Fade In magazine, InStylye magazine, toy packaging, published books and recently 'SpongeBob SquarePants' the movie and 'Keeping Up with the Steins'.. Since returning from the tropics in 1996, James has been a prolific artist. His partial client list includes: Disney, Paramount, Upper Deck, Microsoft, NBC, CBS, HBO, L.A. Lakers, Nestle, Fox Television, Warner Bros., Columbia TriStar, PacBell, Ricky Martin, Rob Lowe, Rodney Dangerfield, Michael Chiklis, Brook Shields, the Jeopardy staff, Chris Rock, Ron Howard, Exxon, Panasonic, ICTV, American Red Cross, Celebrity Cruise Lines, Club Med, Hawaiian Tropic, Taco Bell Corporation, Teen Magazine, Source Magazine, Pfizer, Mattel, Bruce Ryan Productions, Planet Hollywood, FCB Advertising, Grange Advertising, Sony Pictures, Unify Corp.,Canadian Life Insurance, Boeing, Amgen, city of L.A., LAPD, LAFD, FBI, CA State parks, etc. . . . Some of the famous faces that James has drawn in person include: Hugh Hefner, Kobe Bryant , Brian Shaw, Mitch Richmond, Peter Falk, Amy Smart, Fabio, Mariah Carey, Candy Spelling, Lauryn Hill, Patrick Warburton, Elaine Hendrix, Johnny Ullman, Frank Langella, Shania Twain...... James can draw on any size paper, however, his preferred format is 11” x 14” acid-free 70 lb. high quality drawing paper. After capturing the personality of his subject doing his or her favorite hobby or in his or her favorite setting, the unique artwork is placed in a clear, flat protective plastic bag. Per hour James draws at least 12-15 flattering fairly detailed black and white full body people with front view and a theme an hour. James draws with his own style, (not the typical and often grotesque theme park style), or up to 18-20 people with head and shoulders in black and white. Color is also available but slows the process by half. James takes great pride and integrity in his character as well as each drawing he produces. He is very appreciative that he makes a great living with his passion. When not drawing, James can be found in the waters off of the Santa Barbara coastline, trying his best to communicate with the dolphins. So far they just squeak and smile.
