www.mmitchellthechef.com 301-814-2433 or 310-814-CHEF Chef Mitchell began his love for cooking at the age of 12 assisting his mom in the kitchen, who was originally from Charleston, South Carolina and his grandparents, from the West Indies. Chef Mitchell quickly became familiar with Southern Caribbean cooking, which he affectionately refers to as “Geechee” cuisine.
A New York City native, his first real job was at 17 when Chef Mitchell joined the United States Navy, where his love for food grew to a more international flavor. While traveling to over 15 countries, Chef Mitchell experienced many cultures and cuisine to include French, German, Mediterranean, Middle-Eastern Italian and Caribbean cuisine etc. Chef Mitchell knew then that creating fabulous fare, as well as hospitality service, was his passion. After the Navy Malcolm started working in various local restaurants and hotels. Malcolm then decided that he wanted to take this culinary journey to another level, and become a classically French trained chef. Classically trained but M. Mitchell style of cuisine is far from classical. Chef’s style is to fuse flavors of the world with sometimes unimaginable combination to create a culinary harmony. When asked his specialty, Chef Mitchell’s reply is always “fabulous food”. Chef Mitchell obtained his degree in Advanced Culinary Arts from the Stratford University, in Virginia. He is also a member of the American Culinary Federation and Chef’s of America Association, where he holds the title of Certified Culinarian. Since obtaining his degree, Chef Mitchell has worked in major multi-million dollar production kitchens, mid to upscale restaurants/hotels, and has work with chef to the stars Chef Cheo who is currently Janet Jackson’s personal chef. Chef Mitchell was the creator of Chef’s on the Go and his signature personal chef company M. Mitchell the Chef. Chef Mitchell was featured on NBC News Channel 4 displaying sweet treats his famous “Chocolate Covered Strawberries infused with REMY and topped with hazelnut whipped cream” for Mother’s Day. As Chef Mitchell’s audience grows he was recently contacted to speak at a local middle school for career day allowed Chef to give back and inspire young people to set goals and work towards them thus leading to the Launch of his new school program “Brain Food”. This program combines healthy balance choice meal while adding flare. As former Executive Chef, for the National Cathedral School and Washington International School Chef Mitchell has obtained vast knowledge on how to enhance The National School Lunch Program. While carefully evaluating the USDA guidelines and the preparation of the current school program, Chef was able to implement ways to prepare the healthiest breakfast and lunch for the same cost being spent on processed food. Chef also acknowledges that healthy breakfast & lunch better for the children. It contributes to better learning and interaction at school.
