The KostumeRoom LLC

"The Kostume Room, LLC" was created back in 1993 as a Michigan family owned Costume retail store. It all began with two sisters and their mother. Tammy, the youngest, always sewed the Halloween costumes for her son and daughter and, as you can imagine, accumulated many costumes through the years as kids these days never wanted to be the same thing twice. Gayle, who has one daughter, always received the costumes when Tammy's children outgrew them. Finally, after Gayle sewed a few costumes herself they ran out of closet space.

Tammy and Gayle decided to put an advertisement in the local newspaper to sell the excess costumes. Tammy's husband was unsure that they would be able to sell them that way. Well the phone rang off the hook and boy was her husband surprised! That is how the girls made over $200.00 selling the first few costumes and became their seed money for a business they had been talking about for years.

With the $200.00 Gayle and Tammy bought some fabric and trims and started sewing costumes. Finally, with the help of their Mother who taught the girls how to sew in the first place and with the love of sewing, they embarked on an adventure of a lifetime. At first thought, they would sell their costumes through consignment. But God had other plans, big plans as they met a lady who was opening up a mall out in the middle of nowhere. She asked the girls if they would be interested in volunteering in her venture in return of free space. With free space available the girls couldn't say no. So, they ordered some ready-made costumes to put with the homemade ones in their inventory. They also ordered masks, wigs, makeup and accessories to become a costume retail store featuring a service that people would come to know as very unique in the business. They also decided to begin their Costume Rental In Michigan as well.

Well, the first year was a real learning experience for the girls and Mom. They entered into the business totally "green" and boy, did they learn fast!!! The following several years "The Kostume Room LLC" operated in Rogers Plaza during the Halloween season. Every year the store gets bigger and better than the year before. With the purchase of the building as shown on the 'HOME" page of this Web-Site in Wyoming, MI we noticed that things were changing in the business as well. It was only a matter of time before this Internet Web-Site would become a part of their lives as things really picked in their 14th year. We've also recently started renting tuxedos for Prom, Weddings, Anniversaries, or any formal occassion that a gentleman would need a tux. We have vintage tuxedos from the 1950's - 1990's and also offer today's styles of tuxedos as well. Currently, schools are becoming more active in hosting book reports, wax museums, musical presentations for their children and parents. Also, churches and theater groups are able to find what they're looking for at "The Kostume Room LLC" as they prepare for various plays and religious events.

Now, with this new facet of their lives opening up, the girls are really looking forward to helping customers from all over the USA and Canada find that special costume, scary mask, wigs or makeup for their events. They put their hearts into this website and they hope you enjoy it. We're sorry but we can no longer take orders from countries other than the USA and Canada.
