Annalisa Ewald - Classical Guitarist

Annalisa Ewald began her classical guitar studies in her native Washington, D.C., as a protogée of Sophocles Papas, a colleague and friend of the acclaimed Spanish guitarist Andrés Segovia, who invited her to study with him after hearing her play. She made her debut at age 12 at the Washington Guitar Society. Her further training includes studies in classics at St. John’s College, Annapolis; the San Francisco Conservatory of Music; a B.A. in classical guitar performance from Bard College; post-graduate work in the Suzuki Method at the Hartt School of Music. Private studies under: George Sakellariou, Turan Mirza-Kamal, Luys Garcia-Rénart and Patrick O’Brien, with coaching in baroque performance practice under Patrick O'Brien, Grant Herreid, Paul Shipper and Jennifer Griesbach in NYC, and under Lucas Harris at the Baroque Performance Institute at Oberlin College.
